Left piece...natural...test piece cut from it with a Band Saw...on rightSection Brown dye added to stabilizing process.Some changes will be added in the process.
Note this test piece had some color in the main piece of Antler
this adds to the end/finished colorTest piece....excellent !!
Stabilized Moose Antler Test
This Test Antler has unknown age.
There is very little color definition in the old piece.
The finished end has been dyed and Stabilized.
The process/steps are still being improved.
The possibilities are enormous for knife handles.
The stabilized end will polish and shine.
It could easily be left alone for the end of the knife handle
It was donated as a test piece by Raymond Peterman, Salina. Kansas.
Raymond makes chairs and chandeliers from Moose antlers.
So if you need to sit right and brighten up your room give him a call.
Stabilized Antler Test
The bottom two pictures are Axis Deer antler and a Jaw Bone
Both had no color and then dyed and stabilized.
The Jaw bonewould help graw potential customers to your Show table
The Test Antlers are Moose antler on the right and cleaned Axis Deer Antler on the left.
Both have unknown age. There is very little color definition in the Axis Deer Antler
There is some color definition on the Moose Antler slabs.
The Moose antler piece was cut apart
for a knife slab handle. The finished end has been dyed and Stabilized.
The process/steps are still being improved.
The possibilities are enormous for knife handles.
The stabilized end will polish and shine.
It could easily be left alone for the end of the knife handle.
These Antlers were lightly buffed.
If you buff or lightly burnish the Antler pattern will show more definite
